The Milky Way is huge. The whole Milky Way is set 100,000 light-years across. Astronomers degree high-quality distances in light. One mild-yr is how some distance light travels in a single yr. Light travels extraordinarily fast. A flash of mild is going nearly 6 trillion miles (10 trillion kilometers) in a single yr. That’s a 6 with twelve zeroes after it: 6,000,000,000,000! Even at that blazing speed, it might take a flash of light 100,000 years to move the Milky Way.
